Ruby 1.9.3-p125 Released

The Ruby team just recently released Ruby 1.9.3 patch level 125. The big news in this release is LLVM/clang support as well as GCC 4.7 support. There is also a security fix of the Ruby OpenSSL extension and various other bug fixes. You may notice some speed improvements as well.

You can view the full Change log and both rvm and ruby-build both support the new release in their respective latest versions.

Bert Appward of the Google team recently released a superb interactive book titled “Field Guide to Web Applications“. Through the literature Bert presents the best skills and practices of building modern web apps. The guide covers the following topics:

  1. KNOW YOUR WEB APPS
  2. DESIGNING WEB APPLICATIONS
  3. CASE STUDIES OF WEB APPS IN THE WILD
  4. BUILDING GREAT WEB APPLICATIONS

Not only is it a great read but a fun experience. The guide has an almost tangible feel to it as the pages flip and has a strong emphasis on texture. I recommend checking it out.

SQL Fiddle

The service currently supports MS SQL, MySQL, Oracle, and PostgreSQL. Why is this interesting?
