A Better Web

By

01 October 2008 | Category: Design

We’re for a better web.

So we’re about to launch the brand new FOWA Miami 2009 site and we thought is was about time we got our arses into gear when it came to making accessible and easy to use websites.

That’s why we’ve created the “For a Better Web” badge. Sporting the badge means we’ve done our best to make our sites as accessible and easy to use as possible.

We’re also teaming up with www.abilitynet.org.uk who are going to help us keep on top of producing accessible sites and projects in the future.

“For A Better Web” is going to be an ongoing and evolving project. We’ll keep learning and we’ll always do our best to make our sites easy to use for everyone.

We’ll be posting more about this in the coming months :)

    Really great idea,

It’s a real shame that there’s a need to show support for accessibility rather than it just being the ‘standard’ way to do things.

Oh well, maybe in the future…

Great initiative. Can’t wait to see where this will be going.

It sure looks hot on the FOWA content site too.

I cannot make out the black text on wood grain! What is it you are trying to say about a better web and accessability???

Highly ironic though that the link to this page from the homepage is considered inaccessible – presents a link out of context (i.e. a screen reader user tabbing through the links on the page will just hear “here”, which conveys no information about the target page content whatsoever) ;)

Your thoughts are intriguing. Just wondering what you’d do to make my ten home giveaway site better or friendlier or more persuasive.

    Thanks,
