"Instead consider beginning the design process by developing lower level pages such as a standard text page"

I really enjyed this post and it has given me real food for thought. All our courses start with the homepage and now I am thinking we should start at a standard text page as well....it makes sence that we should put our time and energy into designing most of the pages not the precieved "most important" page.

Thanks Paul!

OK... am commenting on a two-year old article but it's a good one. Thanks for the tips. As the manager of a medium-scale web site, managing the home page is close to a nightmare for all the reasons you stated. I agree that educating your stakeholders is the only way to go. The biggest problem I have is that education is rather difficult as most managers are not very familiar with technology...

Brilliant article, still totally relevant nearly two years on. Client education is always a struggle and this provides brilliant insight.
