Sneak peek at Orchestrate web site

By

26 January 2009 | Category: Design

Mike (mikekus) and I (ryancarson) have been working really hard on the design for the front-end site for Orchestrate, Andy Wright's new web app. We've been brought in to design the 'public' site that explains what the application does and (hopefully) gets you to sign up to try it out.

The web app was already beautifully designed by Jon Hicks and been coded in Rails. I can’t wait to see how the application does in the wild as it’s going to be perfect for a certain niche.

I think it’s really coming together and we’re very excited about unveiling it – hopefully late this week. Here’s a sneak peek. What do you think it does?

I like the combo of nice graphics and easy to read speech bubbles. Very nice.

Not sure what it’s for, but all those roads can’t possibly be good for local air quality ;).

It looks like a planner/calender or something for a person who owns, and/or rents out several properties. Like a maintenance scheduler of some sorts.

Whatever it exactly is, it sure looks hot!

I suspect it’s some sort of reminder system for Health and Safety compliance across an organisation?

Nice idea and very squidgy design :)

Looks like it has to do with scheduling.

Beautiful graphics and awesome attention to detail. Can’t say I’ve seen too many water sampling plants in my time, but that looks to be an exceptionally good looking one.

One thing – not sure about the commas after the timespan in the annotation bubbles?

I’m going to go ahead and guess that is does what it says on the website. :-)

I agree with Jeese. It looks like it could be used for someone who owns or does maintenance on buildings. Whatever it is it looks nice.

Good guessing folks. Keep it up! :)

Some kind of facilities management app. Or environmental reporting ??
Good exposure, whatever it is, so money well spent I’d say :-)

I imagine that it inflates your ego to monstrous levels, Ryan.

It appears to be very effective.

It looks like it keeps track of your upcoming schedule in the guise of a visual calendar/map?

A very comely, collective, corporate concrete collateral compliance calendar and collaboration thingie?

    From the current webiste:
“Orchestrate is a powerful web based scheduling application. Accessible from any Internet connected computer, Orchestrate helps you manage all aspects of your client contracts including tasks, locations and people. It is easy to use, and particularly suitable for Service and Maintenance professionals.”

    There’s my guess.

Seriously though it looks great. Would be very interested in seeing it finished from an HCI point of view.

Sorry, didn’t see the above post already going with my *joke*

I see somebody already spoiled all the fun by tracking down the website, but my guess was going to be a scheduler that sends SMS and email notifications at specific times. Or a 2d pixel-art-ish virtual world game, which I think would be cool. :-)

Sim City in web app form? I kid, but that would be awesome.

    Nice work on the design/illustration.

Not knocking it Ryan, but some of these comments – aren’t you afraid of stalkers?
