Shikeb, why don’t you organise one yourself? A friend of mine setup West by West Midlands (the West Midlands is the region I live in) last year, as a response to the South by South West festival, as there were some people from our community going over there. We had a barcamp-style meetup with a few speakers, then hooked up with our friends in Texas via Skype. A few months later, the WxWM organiser setup the Birmingham Barcamp, which I spoke at (I’d never done public speaking before; it’s here if you want to see it: http://bit.ly/9pgUkL).

I’d never organised anything before I setup Hackitude in December last year, because I got so tired of all the industry backslapping meetings we have in the UK. It went really well, and has spawned another project called Speed Data, and got interest from Spain and New York.

If you can’t find an event that you’d like to attend, start your own :)

Very good article but actually I want to draw your focus on one point thats here in Indian subcontinent specially Pakistan, we don’t have similar opportunities available like Europe & America, almost no conferences/ unconferences.

Its a drawback of this region.
