A new Chairman, Event Manager and Senior Designer – Wow!

By

09 July 2007 | Category: Uncategorized

Exciting news here at Carson Sysems HQ! We’ve just added three new talented members to our team. I’d like to introduce you to …

Joanne Andrews, Event Manager

As a seasoned event organiser, Jo will be bringing a wealth of expertise in logistics and event co-ordination. She is responsible for the Future of Web Design series of events.

Greg Ingham, Chairman

Greg has acted as Ryan’s business mentor since Jan ’06 and we’ve decided to formalise the relationship by inviting him to be our Chairman.

He is going to play an important role in helping the business grow by asking Gill and Ryan the tough questions! :)

Here’s Greg’s biography …

Greg Ingham began as a journalist in the early 80s. He launched trade paper CTW as Editor and then moved to Future Publishing as Publisher in 1988, becoming MD in 1993 and CEO in 1998. Future floated in June 1999. By the time he left in June 2006, the company had grown from 30-odd people and £2m sales to 1,600 and £225m.  Ingham is chair of Eurogamer, the DTI Games Forum, a Trustee of the games industry charity ESC, chair of the Theatre Royal Bath and a non-exec of Bright Things plc.  He is also chief executive of MediaClash – a diverse Bath-based media business which he jointly owns and runs with his wife, Jane Ingham.  You can read more about MediaClash at mediaclash.co.uk

Elliot Jay Stocks – Senior Designer

Elliot’s work has been featured in various online and offline publications, used in presentations at international web design conferences, and showcased on numerous design inspiration websites.

He’s worked with some of the biggest names in the music industry, and sometimes writes about web design theory & practice in several creative magazines. His personal site is gorgeous.

We’re honored to have Greg, Jo and Elliot on the team. Welcome guys!

Nice going Ryan. Great additions to the team!

Are they all going to be working together with you guys at Carson HQ? I would have thought you didn’t have much more space for another person, let alone 3!

    Hey Dave,

    Thanks :)

Jo and Elliot are fulltime, but Greg is not. We’re at full capacity at the office now. We’re hoping to buy a new office for November. Fingers crossed …

    Best,
    Ryan

Wow, congratulations Ryan and the team, this is fantastic news, great to see you are expanding the team – with real talent also.

A couple of questions, how did you go about getting a business mentor?

Also my app is launching in to beta next week, we need to hire a lawyer to write the terms and conditions, what should we look for in a lawyer and roughly how much should it cost?

If you’re not to busy that is.

Keep up the great work, looking forward to see whats next for the company (and hopefully I’ll see you at the FOWA in October!).

    Hi James,

I actually walked up to Greg in a coffee shop and introduced myself, and then asked if we could have coffee sometime :)

We really hit it off and he was a great match for me and the business.

I’d find someone who you respect, and then ask if they have time for a coffee. See how it goes and if you like eachother, then formalise it.

Re: lawyer fees. It should cost you around £800 – £1000 for a solid Terms&Conditions doc.

    See you in October!

    Best,
    Ryan
